BASKETBALL Grades K-3 (Co-Ed)BasketballThe Bedford Youth Grades K-3 Co-Ed Basketball League is open to both boys & girls and will be divided by grades (Grades K-1 and Grades 2-3.) Players will learn basketball skills and play games in an organized league. Basket height will be adjusted for for this age group. Each team will have one practice a week for an hour in an elementary school gym. Games will be played on Saturdays. Bedford residents have priority in being placed on a team. Space remaining is open to other communities depending on the number of participants, volunteer coaches and facility space. Registrations are on a first-come basis. League size depends on the number of volunteer coaches. Coaches Needed: Volunteers are very valuable to the success of this league. Please consider coaching or assist coaching a team. If you or someone you know would like to help, please complete the coaching portion when registering your child. Deadline to register: October 23rd or until rosters are full. Register Early! CPR/AEDSpecial InterestINSTRUCTOR: JERRY LAWSON - If a person in your home, community or workplace stops breathing or falls unconscious, would you know what to do? CPR and use of an AED are basic life saving skills for everyone. Through instructor-lead discussion, hands-on application, and video enhancement, you'll learn the proper response skills for emergency scene assessment, choking assistance, unconscious victim resuscitation, and cardiac arrest. Topics covered also include: Good Samaritan Laws, Standard Precautions, and Special Considerations for Resuscitation. LINE DANCE - BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATELine DanceIn this 4-week session, you'll have the opportunity to learn and practice dances for 90 min. each week. The first half of class will be Beginner Level (approx. 45-60 min) dancing to country and mainstream music, while the second half will bump things up to Improver/Intermediate level (approx. 30-45 min) for you experienced dancers out there. This portion of class will be faster paced and will not cover the basic steps of line dancing, however, all dancers are welcome to stick around and participate. We're always mixing it up. SAFE SITTERSafe SitterSafe Sitter is a medically-oriented instruction session that teaches boys and girls ages 11-13 to handle emergencies when caring for young children. It is a 5-1/2-hour program with hands-on training the following areas: basic lifesaving techniques, safety precautions to prevent accidents, how to activate an emergency system, and tips on basic child care. Segment 1 Michigan Driver Education (under 18 years of age)Drivers EdMichigan Driver Education Segment 1 is for Michigan students under 18 years of age (minimum age is 14 years, 8 months by the first day of class). Segment 1 consists of: 12 days (2 hours each day for a total of 24 hours total) of classroom instruction and 6 hours behind-the-wheel driving with the instructor (driving days/times will be arranged by instructor). The instructor has up to 3 weeks after the classroom portion to complete driving and observation hours with student. Students must complete all State of Michigan Driver Education requirements to receive Segment 1 Certificate of Completion. Refunds (less service fee) or transfers will only be issued if requested to the Community Ed office at least 3 business days prior to the class start date. Refunds requested after the 3 days, but before the 2nd day of class will be $155.00. No refunds will be issued after the 2nd day of class! Check your calendar before registering, student must attend all 12 days (24 hours) of classroom instruction, no exceptions. You will be required to re-register and re-pay for a new session if you do not show or do not complete requirements during your registered session. When registering, you need to state full name (first, middle and last) as it appears on your birth certificate. WAITLIST POSITIONS DO NOT TRANSFER FROM ONE SESSION TO ANOTHER.
